Disability

What is disability insurance?

Disability insurance protects your ability to earn a living.  if you get too sick or injured to work, it replaces a portion of your income so you can pay your bills.  Disability is more common than you may think: about 5% of working Americans experience a short-term disability each year – and most don’t originate at work, so these aren’t covered by workers compensation.

Everything You’ll Need to Know

Greenlight Networks offers full-time employees both short- and long-term disability. This benefit helps protect your most important asset, your income! If you’re injured or sick and cannot work, this benefit will help provide you income replacement while you’re not working.

While short-term disability is a voluntary, employee paid benefit, Greenlight Networks does provide company paid long-term disability (at no cost to you).  If you elect to enroll in short-term disability, you pay for this benefit through post-tax payroll deductions.  With this being a post-tax benefit, the benefit, if needed, is received tax free!

Please Note: If you waived voluntary short-term disability coverage as a new hire and you’d like to elect it for 1/1/25, you are now considered a late entrant.  You will be required to submit an Evidence of Insurability (EOI) form to Guardian for consideration.  If you do not submit an EOI form, you will not have the coverage.  If / Once you do submit the EOI form to Guardian, you will receive a letter in the mail notifying you if you’ve been approved for coverage (and the effective date), or if they require additional information, or if you’ve been denied coverage.  You will begin paying for coverage (if approved) based on the effective date.
